At Fritchley, we are committed to creating as many opportunities as possible to enrich the curriculum. This may be whole school or class theme days, days out in the local area or further afield, visits or visitors. We regularly worship at our local churches; Fritchley Congregational Church and St Mary’s, Crich as well as welcoming their worship leaders into school.
We are very lucky to be part of the Wider Opportunities Music Partnership which delivers music lessons for the children in Year 3 and 4. In recent years, the children have learned to play the violin, ukulele, djembe and samba drums. This year they are learning to play the clarinet. This is part of the curriculum for which there is no additional charge.
If you would like your child to learn to play another instrument whilst at school, we can offer tutors in the piano, and guitar. Please see Mrs Smith in the school office for more details and prices.
Each year, the children in each class elect members to join the ‘School Council.’ They are responsible for holding and leading class council meetings where their fellow classmates can share their ideas and concerns. These are then raised at the School Council meeting where they are addressed. School councillors then feedback to their peers and the cycle repeats making changes and helping to develop the school. The School Council also organise fundraising events to raise money for each class as well as a charity which is chosen by the children annually.
We are fortunate to be able to offer a wide range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities for the children to enjoy. After school and lunchtime clubs differ from term to term. Recently, we have held:
- Basketball Club in conjunction with Premier Sports.
- Reading Club
- Code Club
- Homework Club
- Worship Team
